Our Newest Association – South Weber Knights

August 26, 2009

Picture 81The newest association to join the WFFL, the South Weber Knights, is the association of the week. With dreams of having their own program in the city of South Weber, the community rallied around local organizers to see it to fruition. Naysayers said there would be no way to field teams given the small community, and statistics showed they would have 50-60 players on the high end.

In October of 2008, they set out to prove the naysayers wrong. Through a grassroots effort of fund raising and awareness, the Knights raised over $25,000 with $1900 from city funds. The majority of the fund raising did not come from corporate sponsorships, but through the efforts of future football players, parents, grandparents, and community members by auctions, dinners, and various door-to-door fund raising endeavors.

The South Weber Knights fielded 5 teams: Jr. Mites, Mitey Mites, Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, and Midget in their first year and have 113 active roster players.

We welcome the Knights to the WFFL and wish them the best in building their program.

New Home Field This Year

August 11, 2009

We have a NEW HOME FIELD this year. We will NOT be playing games at Fisher Park. The name of the park is Barlow Park. The address is 500 W. 2100 S. To get there you will want to go on Antelope Dr. (1700 S) to Main St. (The second Main St. DO NOT turn at the K-Mart) This Main St. is accross from Clearfield Job Corp. and there is a Chevron gas station on the corner. Turn left onto Main St. and go to 2300 S. At 2300 S. turn Right (heading towards the lake). Take 2300 S. to 500 W. Turn right and you will see the park on your right hand side after about a block and a half.

Another alternative to Barlow Park is to take Gordoon Ave. Turn Right at 3700 S. (this is the Syracuse/Layton border) You will be heading North. Stay on this road for a half a mile and the park will be on your right. (3700 S. turns into 500 W. when you are in Clearfield City boundaries)

Welcome to the New WFFL Website

August 1, 2009

Welcome to WFFL.com.  You will see that we have updated our website recently.  Here is an overview of what you can expect, where to find things, and how to get engaged.

  • The Association pages are located under 2009 Football Season.  This functions primarily the same way the previous site did.
  • We have implemented a new Photo of the Week and Video Highlight of the Week.  The instructions are on those pages under the Fan Zone tab.
  • We have implemented a new Forum structure.  For those of you who are not familiar with a Forum, it is a place for fans and coaches to discuss the match-ups, games, league rules, etc.  Please read the rules located under the Fan Zone, and proceed to the Forum page to register. Unfortunately, we were not able to preserve past forum comments or user logins.  We apologize for an inconvenience this may cause.
  • We are still gathering Championship information.  If you have photos, video, commentary, or a team photo of the mini bowl champions from previous years, please send it to us to incorporate on the site.
  • Director’s Login is located in the footer (the bottom of each page).

Thank you for your support of the WFFL!
